I work for the Microsoft owned job board Careerbuilder and we have exclusive home page advertising rights with Facebook to advertise recruitment and jobs.

We work with a wide range of companies from the RAF to Miss Selfridge who use the home page to advertise there vacancies. We have found the click throughs very promising as this single advert is on the homepage and in the users personal space.

well I will try and answer both the above questions by ,picture that, at once if I can. First of all advertising on facebook does not literally mean, to advertise, if you did it would cost you a fortune. and if it did'nt cost you a fortune, then we would all be doing it and there would be thousands if not millions of us out there doing it. What it means is to social network . So you said how do I get my website out there.. There are many ways ..some free(if you know the know how) and some cost more than others I have just finished an article with ezine articles titled:- 7 Major Ways to Get Your Online Business Found on the Internet For Free By Adam Woods. This article does in fact cover social marketing and blogging.

You can go to blogger.com or wordpress.com to sign up for your blog.
You can put articles that are related to your website and link them back to your website. Once you finished a blog post, you can ping them, and submit them to social networks and social bookmarking sites.

make a blog for your site. you can also use twitter to get traffic. article submission works fine as well. you just need to put these things into action and you are on your way. try to experiment on other ways as well

Blog is the easiest way of starting your online activity. Post articles at least 2-3 times per week. Monetize your blog. Use this experience to start your own website.

What does "you can ping them" mean?

I read some posts on various forums that using facebook to advertise isn't going to last.. That's why I haven't jumped on the bandwagon. Anyone else seen good results with it?

And if you're just starting out with no capital, blogger or wordpress is always recommended.
