I am looking into working from home and what appreciate your insight into problems that can be faced when setting up a business from home.

What do you think stops people from working from home or gives them problems in setting up a home business?

Most people give up too easily! If you have a passion for what you are doing from home, then just do it. Write out a plan of action. Then follow that plan of action. Make yourself a schedule to work by and follow it. If you really are serious about starting a business from home, I would suggest continue working until you get your business set up and running. This will avoid any financial problems before your business even gets off the ground.

When you start off you are an easy target for various scammers and so called sure fire success suppliers, internet marketing is a marathon not a sprint. Pick a program or niche that you are conforable with then promote it on your site or if you don't have a site of your own there are thousands of affiliate programs available where you can make money promoting other peoples programs or products.

Set yourself a small budget at first and stick to it, when one of your programs starts to pay off then use the money to advertise a bit more and so on.

Start off by classified ads or writing articles and submitting them to article directories. If you have a blog then you can publish articles on your blog. Join a few traffic exchanges and forums like this one, these are great places to avoid pitfalls and to pick up tips on marketing. If you want to see a few programs that I promote then please feel free to visit my site, perhap you will find what you are looking for there.

Whatever you decide, try and give yourself tasks to perform every day, perhaps in your diary and make sure you do that task without fail and discipline yourself that way because IM is a business just like any other and if you are prepared to invest time and effort it 'will' pay off. I think most people feel it is easy to work from home and make money.
They don't realize that you have to work almost harded working from home than at a
J-O-B.
A person has to decide if they wish to start their own business from home or if they wish to work for a company - from their home.

I personally think that people forget that when they are looking to work from home it usually involves running their own business. Inevitably this means some kind of financial outlay whether this is for your kit, advertising or any other costs associated with running your own business. These costs do not have to be excessive if you find the right business for you. Personally I would not expect to be able to open a shop without paying for stock, a lease and advertising? If money is a factor which prevents you from realising your dream of working from home you have to ask yourself if that is really what you want to do. ( I hope that doesn't sound too harsh!)

That said, some companies will just bleed money from you without any chance of you ever being able to sucessfully run a business from home. I was personally involved with a popular MLM company and had to pay extortionate amounts for a website, advertising, training and my upline encouraged me to put £2500.00 on my credit card to buy stock!! (If anyone would like to hear more about my experience please PM me I do not want to publicly say which company this was)

Another important factor is you must believe in the product, if you do not believe in it you will have no chance in selling it to others.

I run my own body shop at home business. You can start for less than £100.00, training is free (no other costs at all) and you can have a chance at sucessfully running your own business from home. The products sell themselves (not literally of course!) as they are so well known. If anyone is interested please PM me.

Obviously you've some reason for it, but believe me not everyone is tring to "bleed money from you without any chance of you ever being able to successfully run a business from home".
