Default Liability Release Forms

Does anybody know if a liability release form has to be very specific or can it be general when it is concerning a specific type of service? For example -- A beautician comes to your home, cuts your hair and gives you a perm. Both the beautician and the client know that firms can damage hair. But they do not always do this. Would the beautician need to have the client sign a liability release form for a specific event that may occur or can it be a general event that may occur? Have I confused everybody yet?
