Some great points in this thread.
I've worked at home part time for 5 years and full time for 3 years. It was hell for the whole family working from a spare bedroom. It was unfair on the children who do not understand why they cannot make noise when they are just playing. It was no fun for me either so I got rid of all the junk and converted the garage into a dedicated office and meeting room. Crucially it has its own entrance so I can have guests for meetings without them coming through the house. It has been a godsend.
Another problem is that you can become very insular and so I;ve found it is important to make sure I break up my week with meetings and trips outside of the office just to get out there and meet people. Its great working in your boxer shorts unshaven to a point but can become unhealthy if you're not careful.

John
