When you start off you are an easy target for various scammers and so called sure fire success suppliers, internet marketing is a marathon not a sprint. Pick a program or niche that you are conforable with then promote it on your site or if you don't have a site of your own there are thousands of affiliate programs available where you can make money promoting other peoples programs or products.

Set yourself a small budget at first and stick to it, when one of your programs starts to pay off then use the money to advertise a bit more and so on.

Start off by classified ads or writing articles and submitting them to article directories. If you have a blog then you can publish articles on your blog. Join a few traffic exchanges and forums like this one, these are great places to avoid pitfalls and to pick up tips on marketing.
